We are currently supporting a USPG project in Sri Lanka working with the Diocese of Columbo Community Development Programme to. Improve the lives and opportunities of tea pickers, giving their families better healthcare, adequate nutrition and education opportunities to lift them out of the cycle of poverty.

A big thank you to all who contributed to the Curry Lunch in aid of USPG on Sunday 6th November 2022. So far the total raised is £255 (but any further contributions to the work amongst the tea picker communities in Sri Lanka will be gratefully received, whether or not you were able to attend the lunch!). Canon Ruddock emailed to say how much he and his wife enjoyed their visit.

The USPG is one of the main Charities that St James Supports

It stands for “United Society Partners in the Gospel”. It was founded in 1701, and is the Anglican (Church of England) mission agency that partners churches and communities worldwide in God’s mission to enliven faith, strengthen relationships, unlock potential and champion justice.

They are involved in issues of climate change, they deal with human trafficking, in helping provide education.

St James raises funds at occasional services, by collecting boxes, and plant sales and other one-off events.
