Poitiers Food Bank

This is a local charity that we support at St James. When the church is open there is a box at the back for people to put dry food, tins, cereals, sometimes nappies or sanitary products. The charity is run by a Catholic order, who distribute food parcels to around 20 – 30 families a week in Southampton. If you’re interested in seeing how they run, they’d love to show you round. Just get in touch!

A letter of thanks from Poitier Care December 2023

Dear Simon with all your Loving generosity and support we have fed 83 families this Christmas. Happy Christmas and a huge thanks to all our friends at St James’ from Jenny.

On Saturday 11th November 2023 we held our annual Poitier Cake sale in the Church Hall. We raised nearly £400 for this great cause.

Oct 2023 – We received a letter today from Jenny at Poitier thanking everyone for the Harvest food donations:

Dear Vicar Simon. Thank you once again for the wonderful Harvest Festival food donations from St James’. It was such a large amount that we made a special delivery to Ashurst. Having laid everything out nicely, we took some photos and sent them to the packing volunteers. They were absolutely overwhelmed and, once again, St James’ was the top talking point in our little charity!

On behalf of us and those we serve, please thank everyone concerned in creating this wonderful addition to our food stocks. May God bless you all for your continued and faithful support of this essential lifeline for so many families.

With Love and prayers as always, Jenny.

On Saturday 19th November 2022 we had our annual Poitier Food bank Coffee morning. We raised an amazing £470 which will go towards some much needed food and Christmas extras for those who need it.
